Our History

From Upstate New York to Central Florida

Over 60 years ago, Russell P. LeFrois started LeFrois Builders and Developers (prominent builders in Upstate, New York) by building exceptional, cost effective homes. After building over 100 custom homes in Webster NY, the company became incorporated in 1963. Russell expanded the business to include commercial construction, a direction that would eventually become the company’s sole emphasis. In 1972, Russell’s son, Richard LeFrois, accepted leadership of the company. Rich now handles the challenging demands and close-working relationships needed in the commercial contracting industry on a daily basis. He has advanced the company’s focus to include all aspects of commercial, industrial, and general contracting development. In 2004, LeFrois purchased 300 acres of land along the I-4 corridor in Central Florida, and formed Central Florida Development (CFD). CFD has grown to be one of the leading commercial developers in the region by developing office and industrial buildings, as well as hotel and restaurant sites.

CFD is currently developing business parks along Florida’s bustling I-4 corridor, conveniently located within 30 minutes of both Tampa and Orlando. Central Florida is home to nine million people and is one of the fastest growing regions in the United States. Our land holdings include office, industrial, and hotel/restaurant sites adjacent to, or close to, Interstate 4. This enviable location allows our customers to reach Miami in 3 hours and Atlanta in 6 hours.Central Florida’s two International Airports are nearby, providing direct access throughout the United States and many international destinations.. Our sites are available for build-to-suit projects and can accommodate up to 1.6 million SF on a single site. CFD has plans to continue growing its portfolio in Central Florida, capitalizing on the area’s superior location, excellent transportation infrastructure, population growth, quality of life, and pro-business attitude.
